Dominique Goodmond
Senior Advisor to the Board
Committee chairs for jail/prison diversion
Standing as an North Carolina A&T State University Alum, Dominique held a vision to utilize her creative love for English and become a professor at an HBCU. That vision didn’t hold sight of a wrongful conviction that would lead her to 5 years of incarceration. Her original dream didn’t understand her persistence in
understanding continued injustice in America as she became a certified paralegal while incarcerated, nor did it grasp the power in her voice as she stood tall on a TedTalk stage unveiling the lack of understanding of those behind prison walls. After fighting and failing to attain her freedom, Dominique was released and returned to North Carolina in 2019 to unveil her truth on a successful podcast, A
Correctional View. She utilized her experience to apply attention towards politicians becoming a fellow with Advance Carolina’s Criminal Justice division. Quickly, she learned skills that led her to found Correctional Views & Correcting Views through Actions. Non profit organizations addressing proactive methods in
which both children and adults can avoid becoming another victim to America’s unjust system. Dominique never held her oppression as a singular issue in America and now works at The Center of Third World Organizing as Communication Coordinator to ensure voices of Blackout Liberation, BLLI, and Ruckus Society
are heard as they assist leaders in direct action against injustice communities face daily. Through public speaking, online panels, and content created to inform, Dominique will continue to utilize her voice to uplift the truth in a manner that doesn’t allow any listener to question its validity. Coming home to remain
silent was not an option for her.
